
A two-year-old boy, identified as Jason Peterson, died under unclear circumstances on Sunday after he was discovered unattended in a vehicle in Folsom, according to local authorities. In a statement obtained by The Sacramento Bee, Folsom Police Department Cmdr. Andrew Bates said officers were called to a residence on Donnelly Circle and McAdoo Drive around 6:40 p.m. for what was reported as a medical aid call. Upon arrival, law enforcement and firefighters attempted life-saving measures but were unable to revive the child.
Details concerning the events leading up to the boy's death remain sketchy. "As with any unexpected death, we are investigating the circumstances," Bates told The Sacramento Bee. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has yet to determine the exact cause of death, leaving many questions unanswered.
While the investigation continues to unfold, Folsom Police Department have offered few additional details regarding the situation. A spokesperson confirmed the timeline of the emergency response in a similar statement reported by KCRA, noting that officers promptly began to perform CPR until the fire department arrived at the scene.
