In a case that rocked the city of Baltimore, Ishmail Shareef, a former employee of Dunkin Donuts, has been sentenced to a total of 75 years in prison for his role in the brutal assault and rape of an ex-coworker. The sentence comes after Shareef was found guilty on all 21 charges he faced, including first-degree rape and robbery with a dangerous weapon. According to the WMAR 2 News report, the attack occurred on October 14, 2022, at the Dunkin Donuts located on E. 33rd Street.

The details of the case reveal a carefully planned crime by two men with insider knowledge of the store's operations. Shareef and an accomplice, who once worked together at the same Dunkin Donuts, orchestrated an attack at a time when the victim was alone. According to FOX Baltimore, after all the customers had left, the assailants turned off the lights, assaulted the victim, and forcefully dragged her into the freezer where the sexual assault took place. Meanwhile, the robbery was in progress as $500 was taken from the cash register and stock room.

Evidence presented during the trial included store camera footage that was crucial in piecing together the events of that night. The cameras captured the perpetrators as they committed the heinous act and were instrumental in identifying them to the detectives. Shareef's accomplice eventually cooperated with investigators, leading to the identification of Shareef as the main perpetrator. His cooperation, however, has left unclear the exact punishment he will face, as reported by WMAR 2 News.

Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan J. Bates commented on the case, highlighting the severity of the offense. "The actions of this defendant are absolutely horrific and have undoubtedly caused immeasurable trauma for the victim and their family," he stated, as per WMAR 2 News. Meanwhile, the Baltimore Police detectives were lauded for their efforts in the investigation and prosecution, as they pieced together evidence from various sources, including traffic, speed cameras, residential ring videos, and security footage from surrounding apartment buildings.
