
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has taken former Walton County jailer Jeffrey Sean Day into custody on charges that include Aggravated Battery, Cruelty to Inmates, and Violation of Oath of Office, according to official statements. The 39-year-old from Monroe, GA, stands accused of physically harming a handcuffed inmate, an incident that allegedly took place on July 28, 2024, and left the inmate in need of medical attention.
It was the Walton County Sheriff’s Office themselves who sought out the GBI's expertise to look into the allegations against their former employee. The arrest of Day occurred without incident, with the former jailer now booked into the very facility where he previously worked.
