The Development Services Department is about to make your life a little bit easier. Starting Monday, August 19, all your go-to services for things like building permits and zoning approvals are migrating to new digs on the fifth floor of City Hall, located at 100 Fort Worth Trail. This move, heralded by the city as a customer service upgrade, is intended to bring the various development services under one roof, ostensibly to save you from the hassle of running around town.
This consolidation means you’ll be seeing a shift in the in-person sign-in process. Once you're at City Hall, you’ll check in using lobby kiosks, but keep in mind that seating is now more limited with all services being on one floor and that might mean a bit of standing around waiting for your number to be called, reports the City of Fort Worth. However, those looking to beat the queues can schedule an appointment in advance through the Development Services website or by a quick scan of the QR code provided.
What’s reassuring to those wary of change is that some things will remain just as they were. Your usual hours of operation are still 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, ensuring you won't have to mess with your schedule. Online systems like Accela and CFW Permit Assist aren't going anywhere, and you can still call the same customer service number if typing or scanning isn't your style.
So mark your calendars: up until 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, you'll still trudge to the Lower Level of old City Hall at 200 Texas St. for your development needs but come bright and early Monday at 8 a.m., it's all about that fifth floor City Hall life, according to the City of Fort Worth.
