There's something quintessentially summer about outdoor movies, picnics on the grass, and the communal vibe of residents gathering as the sun sets to enjoy cinema under the stars. Movies in the Park, hosted by the City of Mesquite, taps into this nostalgic tableau, inviting folks of all ages for an evening of laid-back entertainment. Slated for September 14 at the Rorie-Galloway Day Camp, the city is jazzing up this annual staple with some new surprises and classic concessions.
The festivities kick off at 7 p.m., prime time for families to swarm in with their picnic blankets and lawn chairs. Before the stars twinkle above and the big screen flickers with "Trolls Band Together", children can dapple in face painting, or get competitive with a variety of outdoor games.
As confirmed by the City of Mesquite, local food trucks will be rolling in to satisfy cravings. DonutNV and Fera’s Grill are on the docket, offering more substantial dinner options to moviegoers. And for snacking during the show, popcorn will be flowing like cinematic gold, with a sweet little cherry on top. All popcorn sales go to the Boy Scouts of America. It's community support wrapped in the buttery scent of popped kernels.
