GBI Investigates Shooting at Overcrowded Airbnb Party in Fairmount, GeorgiaSource: Google Street View

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is currently probing a shooting incident in Gordon County after a man was injured at a party that spiraled from a social media invitation. The GBI stepped in to assist the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office on July 7th, following a call concerning disturbances and gunshots at an Airbnb locale in Fairmount, Georgia, according to GBI's recent press release.

Loud music calls led deputies to the scene around 3:30 a.m., where they found a man with gunshot wounds in a crowded gravel parking lot adjacent to the property. The investigation revealed that the party had been advertised on Snapchat and was shared numerous times, resulting in an influx of approximately 150 to 200 attendees—many of whom were not acquainted with each other prior to the event. The GBI is now working to quickly to follow up on witness statements and gather additional evidence.

The injured man received medical treatment at a local hospital. As of now, there have been no arrests, and the GBI continues to request assistance from the public. Anyone who attended the event or who may possess videos or information related to the shooting can submit anonymous tips. The GBI has provided several channels for these tips, including a dedicated hotline at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), an online submission form, and the "See Something, Send Something" mobile app.
