Amid the routine aftermath of a minor car collision on Louetta Road, Harris County law enforcement officers found themselves cuffing more than just a traffic violator. Elston Barnes, the driver deemed at fault in the crash, carried the weight of active warrants for crimes that preyed upon the vulnerable – the elderly in our community.
Barnes' identity came to light during the investigation of the accident, leading to a discovery that diverged sharply from traffic infractions. According to a statement by Constable Herman, Barnes was wanted for "Fraudulent Use of ID Against an Elderly Person and Credit Abuse of the Elderly."
The information was disclosed in a Facebook post by Precinct 4, which revealed the subsequent booking of Barnes into the Harris County Jail. "Elston Barnes was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open felony warrants," they wrote, solidifying the narrative of a small crime scene morphing into the end of a hunt for a wanted felon. A bond set at $10,000.00, mandated by the 4487th District Court.
