A suspected perpetrator in an attempted homicide case was arrested after a high-speed chase with Hayward Police, ending without injuries to bystanders. The incident began when two patrol officers, one a trainee and a Field Training Officer, recognized the suspect's vehicle, which was linked to an ongoing investigation in a nearby area.
The officers discreetly followed the vehicle through Hayward streets, waiting for reinforcement before attempting a traffic stop. When they tried to pull the suspect over, the driver sped away, prompting a police chase. The pursuit continued into a neighboring city, where the suspect crashed and fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by the police. A loaded handgun with an extended magazine was found at the crash site, neither registered, according to authorities.
The Hayward Police Department shared details of the arrest on their Facebook page, noting that no one was injured during the incident. The suspect was declared fit by medical professionals and booked into jail on charges related to the attempted homicide warrant, multiple weapons violations, and felony evasion.
