A high-speed chase tore through the streets of southwest Houston on Friday, ending in the arrest of two suspected "jugging" criminals and the injury of two Houston police officers. FOX26 Houston reports that the pursuit commenced around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of I-610 and Wayside, following an individual's report that he was being followed after leaving a bank off the East Freeway.

According to Lieutenant Larry Crowson from the Houston Police Department, the complainant noticed two males in a car surveilling him as he went into and exited the bank. Authorities later located both the suspects and the victim around Bellford and Mykawa, where an attempt to stop the suspects' car was met with their refusal to yield. Click2Houston reports that the chase concluded following a tactical intervention by law enforcement.

The pursuit came to an abrupt halt at approximately 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Old Spanish Trail and Greenbriar Drive. A maneuver by the officers resulted in the suspect vehicle striking a car, crossing over the median, and colliding with a second vehicle. Despite the chaotic scene, no citizens were harmed, but the two officers involved suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.

"During the pursuit, a DPS trooper attempted to execute a PIT maneuver that was partially successful as it deflated the suspect vehicle's tire," Crowson told FOX26 Houston. The suspects, who were in a rental car and are described as being in their late 20s or early 30s, may have been involved in other jugging incidents throughout the city, according to officials.

The Houston Police Department continues to investigate the incident and the broader criminal patterns potentially linked to the apprehended suspects.
