A grave incident occurred earlier today on San Antonio's South Side when a vehicle struck a homeless woman, leaving her in critical condition. The collision took place at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Mission Road, where, according to witnesses, the woman was hit while crossing the street after 2 a.m., as reported by FOX San Antonio.
Authorities detail that the suspect, who was operating the vehicle that hit the woman, did possess the green light at the moment of the accident. Nonetheless, signs of intoxication were apparent and, it is worth noting,, that a child under the age of 15 was present in the car at the time of the incident. The driver did not flee; instead, he stopped to render aid to the victim before being detained by police on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to KENS 5.
The victim, whose identity has yet to be disclosed, was urgently transported to a nearby hospital where she remains in critical condition. The circumstances that led to her presence on the road at such a late hour have not been clarified. The suspect's identity has also not been released to the public as of now.
