A 35-year-old man, Sanden James George, has been arrested and is facing charges in connection with the death of a woman on San Jacinto Street early Sunday morning. At about 3 a.m., police responded to an auto-pedestrian crash and found the female victim, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, fatally struck by a vehicle, the incident occurred after George allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with a 24-year-old woman whom, authorities say, he tried to hit with his vehicle although she did not sustain serious injuries.
According to statements from HPD Homicide Division Detectives B. Stephens and G. Zavala obtained by the City of Houston News, after striking the second woman, George fled on foot but was promptly apprehended by officers at the scene. Following his capture and hospital treatment, further investigation linked George to the crime scene and he has been charged with murder and assault on a family member in the 208th State District Court, and although the initial crash appeared to be an auto-pedestrian accident evidence and eyewitness testimonies suggest a more sinister scenario with intent behind the victim's fatal injuries.
The situation is ongoing, with the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences still engaged in confirming the deceased woman's identity, while George currently remains in custody at the Harris County Jail according to City of Houston News.
