A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a woman discovered at 300 Sunnyside Street last week. Following a welfare check turned grim discovery, Houston Police Department officers found the woman unresponsive inside an apartment on Thursday. She was pronounced deceased by the Houston Fire Department paramedics on the scene.
Charged with murder is Robert Lin Howard, 35, who will now face justice in the 178th State District Court. Initially, the suspect was vaguely described as a white male between 30 and 40 years old. However, the police quickly identify Howard as the prime suspect. A statement on the City of Houston news release indicates that Howard has provided a confession regarding his role in the woman's death, leading to charges being formally filed.
The investigation is being led by Sergeant N. Lazo and Detective M. Providence of the HPD Homicide Division. The identity of the 32-year-old female victim is still being verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, and her name has not been released to the public at this time.
According to police reports, Howard made statements to detectives, admitting his participation in the influential events leading to the woman's death. Following his admission, he was booked into the Harris County Jail.
