A man has been taken into custody and is facing murder charges following the discovery of a woman's body along the Northwest Freeway service road this past weekend. According to cityofhouston.news, Ivan Bautista Cazarez, 27, admitted to his grim action, he surrendered to the police and is now being formally charged in connection to the incident.
The victim, whose identity is currently withheld pending official verification, was found deceased at approximately 4:10 p.m. on Saturday in a vehicle parked at 11077 Northwest Freeway; where the defendant claims to have left her after taking her life, which was a detail he shared upon handing himself over to the Houston Police Department’s Northwest Patrol Division Station. The Houston Fire Department paramedics, alongside patrol officers, were dispatched to the location, where the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Houston Police Department Homicide Division's Detectives L. Patterson and N. Henderson took the lead on the investigation responding to the chilling scene the suspect led them to, following his confession. In the aftermath of the crime, Bautista Cazarez underwent questioning at the hands of the HPD Homicide, and in light of the evidence and his admission; the Harris County District Attorney’s Office saw fit to proceed with charges, landing Bautista Cazarez in the Harris County Jail.
