
A suspect has been arrested and faced charges in relation to a shooting in Houston that occurred yesterday. The incident, which left one man wounded, took place in the parking lot of a business on South Wilcrest Drive, as reported by the City of Houston News.
Vatisha Wright, 41, was identified and detained near the crime scene, subsequently being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.The charge was filed in the 209th State District Court. As part of the ongoing investigation, a booking photo of Wright has been released to the public.
The 23-year-old male victim, whose identity has not been released, was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately tended to and transported to an area hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition. "HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of a business at the above address and found the male suffering from a gunshot wound," HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence Division Detective B. Godoy told City of Houston News.
Investigators learned the victim was shot while seated in his vehicle. Following her arrest, Wright admitted to her involvement in the shooting. The decision to consult with the Harris County District Attorney's Office led to Wright's charge for her role in the shooting.
