Last Friday night, tragedy struck at 1635 North Loop West, the service road of North Interstate Highway 610 West, when a 17-year-old male was found suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. The Houston Police Department is investigating the incident which occurred around 11:10 p.m., according to a statement released by the city. The young man's identity is still under review by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Upon responding to a welfare check call at the Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, HPD patrol officers discovered the victim. The medical staff at the hospital pronounced the young man dead. Detectives K. Clark and M. Nicotra of the HPD Homicide Division are responsible for uncovering the details surrounding the final moments of the victim's life.
As the investigation unfolded, law enforcement officials pieced together that the victim was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle. Both the driver and a passenger of that vehicle have since been interviewed by the authorities. Yet the progression of the case hinges on an elusive motive or suspect, both of which remain unknown at this time.
Encouraging the public's assistance in this sobering case, the Houston Police Department asks anyone with information to come forward. "Anyone with additional information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS," the HPD detailed.
