Surveillance footage has been made available by the Houston Police Department in connection with a fatal shooting that took place on March 22, around 10 p.m., at 11100 Safeguard Street. The video showcases two suspects and their vehicles, which are being sought by authorities. According to a news release, the perpetrators were involved in the death of 24-year-old Matthew Kallie.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Lovelace and M. Hughey arrived on the scene to discover a male victim, who subsequently was identified as Mr. Kallie, lying in the street unconsciously and with multiple gunshot wounds. The Houston Fire Department paramedics declared Kallie to have passed away soon after their arrival. The released video intends to assist the ongoing investigation by highlighting the two vehicles involved: a white SUV, potentially a Chevrolet Traverse, and a black, four-door sedan, likely a Cadillac DTS. The detectives are working to piece together the possibility that Kallie was walking on Brisbane Street when he was brutally ambushed by the assailants, as per City of Houston news.
The details surrounding the motive and the identification of the suspects remain unclear. However, the authorities were able to determine from the preliminary investigation and evidence gathered at the scene that a shooter exited the front seat of the sedan and proceeded to fire a weapon, fatally injuring Mr. Kallie. As of this report, descriptions of the suspects have not been provided.
Houston police are actively pursuing any leads and urging the public to come forward with information that could be crucial to the investigation. They encourage anyone with relevant details to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600. Furthermore, for those wishing to remain anonymous, Houston's Crime Stoppers is available at 713-222-TIPS to possibly aid further in the case.
