The InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk has officially opened its doors, marking a new chapter for the downtown area's hospitality scene. The location, which was formerly the Wyndham San Antonio River Walk, has undergone significant renovations, adding 390 rooms and introducing four new bar and dining options to its guests. According to CultureMap San Antonio, this has been a three-year project in anticipation. Positioned along the iconic River Walk at 111 E. Pecan St., the 21-story hotel stands as a testament to modern luxury with a convenient setting for both exploration and relaxation.
Among its features, the hotel includes a rooftop pool and access to the Club InterContinental Lounge, which is available not as a member-exclusive lounge, but rather as a special benefit for those who opt to book at a luxury rate, a gesture towards the inclusive spirit the establishment seeks to foster. Not just a place of accommodation but also a hub for events and business, the InterContinental boasts 18,000 square feet of event and conference space complete with 10 meeting rooms; each room is equipped with integrated food and beverage stations to meet the needs of every convening group, as reported by KW Signature Group.
Reflecting on the cultural tapestry of the locale, Stefan Gruvberger, the hotel's general manager revealed to CultureMap San Antonio, "The InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk embodies the vibrant culture and rich heritage of San Antonio," explaining that it was crafted to be a place "whether you're a local seeking a cultivated retreat or a visitor eager to explore our city's charms." The earthy yet sleek design by Leo A Daly is punctuated with well-chosen hues, and a multidimensional array of textures, from velvet to marble, creating an ambiance that is equally modern and welcoming.
The dining experience at the InterContinental is helmed by executive chef Andres Farias; with offers ranging from the formal Cavalier, emphasizing "farm-fresh ingredients," to the more casual Rosebelly Coffee which serves pastries and locally sourced coffee, ensuring that even the busiest among us can partake in a quick yet upscale gastronomical affair, meanwhile two cocktail bars, Deco Bar in the lobby and High Praise at the rooftop, present a selection of artisanal drinks and shareable dishes, further enriching the gastronomic narrative of the establishment, as per CultureMap San Antonio. The KW Signature Group notes a special promotion running until December 30, where guests who book will receive complimentary parking and a $50 credit for food and beverage each night.
