A Jackson County woman, who has chosen to keep her identity undisclosed, recently defied the odds by winning a $4 million jackpot from the Michigan Lottery's World Class Millions instant game. 48-year-old shared that her occasional spontaneous purchases of $1 or $2 scratch-off tickets led her to take a chance on a pricier game, which ultimately resulted in her newfound fortune, CBS News Detroit reported.
"I randomly buy scratch-off tickets every few months," the woman told MLive. “Usually, I buy $1 or $2 tickets, but when I was at the store, I decided to take a chance on the World Class Millions game. I scratched it when I got home, and when I saw I won $4 million, I showed my mom and said: ‘Am I reading this right?!’ The jackpot-winning scratch-off was purchased at Royal Liquor Food Market, located at 320 West Prospect St. in Jackson.
The winner opted for a one-time lump sum payout, totaling approximately $2.7 million. She has plans to donate a portion to charity and save the rest, possibly creating a financial cushion for her retirement, as noted by CBS News Detroit.
Michigan Lottery players winning more than $73 million playing World Class Millions to date, and over $91 million in prizes are still available for future winners. The recent win follows a series of significant lottery payouts in the state, including a $1 million and a $2 million prize claimed by Oakland County residents in recent weeks, The Detroit News reported.
