Jefferson City Police Department is currently conducting an investigation following complaints against a substitute teacher at Jefferson Elementary School, as reported by local sources on Friday. According to WVLT, the probe was initiated by allegations from parents and students regarding an incident that transpired on August 22.
The teacher, who has been part of the Jefferson County School System since 2022 and whose past records show no prior reprimands or issues, has been placed on leave. Having carried out a comprehensive background check on hiring, the school system now awaits the investigation's findings, which the Jefferson City Police Department assured would be communicated with the district attorney general's office upon completion, detailed by WATE.
Jefferson County Schools Director Tommy Arnold confirmed the teacher's suspension, stating, "The employee has been placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigations. We have no further comment at this time." Reports of the incident suggest inappropriate conduct during school hours, meriting a concurrent inquiry by the Tennessee Department of Children's Services, the JCPD, and the school district, as noted by WBIR.
