An unfortunate turn of events took place in Clermont County yesterday, resulting in the death of a juvenile driver and the hospitalization of two others after a traffic collision. The Ohio State Highway Patrol relayed information about the accident occurring on Ohio State Route 28 near Rose Lane just after 9:00 p.m., as reported by FOX19. The crash involved a pickup truck and an SUV, with early reports indicating that two individuals were trapped and had to be extricated from the wreck.
While the details surrounding the tragedy are continuing to surface, authorities confirmed the deceased was behind the wheel of a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. A statement by OSP, obtained by FOX19, detailed that the SUV crossed the centerline and collided with an oncoming 2016 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck. The juvenile, whose identity remains unreported out of respect for the family, was notably not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The OSP also confirmed the condition of the other two victims, a 27-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, who were the occupants of the pickup truck. According to WLWT, both individuals were wearing seatbelts and sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to separate hospitals for treatment immediately following the incident.
At the scene, it pronounced the juvenile deceased by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office, as reported by WCPO. Since the OSP’s preliminary investigation has pointed to the juvenile driver crossing the centerline as the primary cause of the accident, yet the crash is still under investigation as officials are piecing together the contributing factors.
