
A collision involving a dump truck and a moped last Friday has left a man injured on Nalu Road in Kapa‘a, according to local authorities. The accident occurred around 11 a.m. when the truck, reversing on the road, struck the 62-year-old moped rider, who is a resident of the area. The victim sustained leg injuries and was promptly transported to Wilcox Medical Center for treatment, while the dump truck driver, 46, from Kalaheo, reported no harm.
Kaua‘i Police Department's Traffic Safety Section responded to the scene, shutting down the road to alternating traffic for about an hour during their investigation at the site. While the specifics of the collision continue to be investigated, the initial reports suggest that neither speed nor impairment were contributing factors.
