According to a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) advisory, a segment of southbound State Route 167 will be completely off-limits from Friday night, August 23, until the early hours of Monday, August 26.
WSDOT crews are set to do their paving and bridge work, all part of the ongoing SR 167 Corridor Improvements Project. Specifically, the closure stretches from SR 516 to South 277th Street, kicking off possibly as early as 8 p.m. on the 23rd and stretching to around 4 a.m. on the 26th. Ramps will be out of commission too—the SR 516 on-ramp to southbound SR 167 and the southbound SR 167 off-ramp to South 277th Street will both be closed.
To help people navigate around the closure, WSDOT will provide a signed detour route. However, WSDOT also advises traveling during off-peak hours or delaying discretionary travel. With the detour routes not built to handle the usual traffic deluge of SR 167, it's likely to quickly back up.
