A Lake County Sheriff's deputy was fatally shot, and two others injured during a call to a disturbance at an Eustis home on Friday. Responding to what would escalate beyond a mere disturbance, upon entry, deputies were met with gunfire, which led to the death of one deputy and critical injuries to another. One of the injured deputies remains in stable condition after being shot in the shoulder, according to a report by WESH.

Lake County Sheriff Peyton C. Grinnell described the harrowing incident as an "ambush" in a statement reported by FOX 35. The Sheriff recounted the deputies had initially responded to a 911 call concerned about a disturbance at one house and were redirected to another close by, discovering a kicked-in back door and the subsequent exchange of gunfire.

The distressing scene further unfolded with the Sheriff's announcement of two deceased suspects inside the home, and a third individual, whose condition remains undisclosed, transported to the hospital. The sheriff did not make it clear if those inside were killed in a murder-suicide scenario or an exchange of fire with deputies. To ascertain the events, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has taken on the task of investigating the incident.
