The Lake County community grapples with heartache following a violent confrontation that claimed the life of a local law enforcement officer and left two others injured. According to WFTV, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office released the names of the deceased and the injured from Friday's shootout in Eustis. Master Deputy Sheriff Bradley Michael Link, aged 28, was fatally shot after responding to an apparent disturbance at a residence.
Two deputies remaining in the throes of recovery, identified as Deputy Stefano Gargano and Master Deputy Harold Howell, are currently hospitalized. Deputy Gargano, critically wounded, is facing yet another surgery on Monday, while Deputy Howell is in a stable condition after arm surgery. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office communicated that the suspects involved, 49-year-old Michael Sulpizo and his two adopted daughters, 23-year-old Savannah, and 22-year-old Cheyenne, were also found deceased at the scene, according to WESH.
Lieutenant John Herrell provided a chilling account of the events leading to the tragedy, detailing how deputies were met with "heavy, heavy gunfire" upon entering the home, believing it was the site of a burglary. Despite the danger, Deputy Gargano was part of the officer-rescue unit formed to save his colleague, Master Deputy Link. In the effort, Gargano sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
