In the hours before dawn on July 31, the desert near Paseo De Oro was shattered by the distress signal of an overturned UTV. The incident, which happened around 1:30 a.m., prompted a response from local emergency services after a family member in touch with the sole occupant of the UTV provided an approximate location of the victim.
Notifying the authorities, the family member initiated a chain of events that would culminate in a desert rescue operation. According to information released by the Lake Havasu City Fire Department, two engine companies, one medic unit, and a battalion chief were dispatched to the scene.
In a statement obtained by the official Lake Havasu City website, it was detailed that the victim was extricated from the desert and thereafter transported to the hospital by LHCFD personnel.
