It's game-on for Lake Havasu City's Island Ball Field following a collaborative effort between the local government and youth sports organizations to revamp the recreational area. The upgrades come just in time for the Opening Day, bringing a fresh look and better functionality to the beloved community space.
The Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Committee is orchestrating a ribbon cutting this Saturday, August 24, at 9:30 a.m., inviting the public to see the refreshed locale at 1150 McCulloch Boulevard, a site that serves various sports including football, soccer, and softball. The event, according to a statement from the Lake Havasu City, celebrates the teamwork between local authorities and the Lake Havasu Chiefs Youth Football and Cheer organization.
In a tangible show of community spirit and investment, the field has seen the installation of new field goals, a wave of new fencing and gates, plus the upgrading of turf. Not to forget, the concession stand has been treated to a new coat of paint and remodeling, making snack time a presumably more pleasant experience for fans and players alike.
"We appreciate the partnership we have with the Lake Havasu Chiefs Youth Football and Cheer organization and the significant investments they made to their homefield on behalf of the entire community," said Parks and Recreation Director Gabby Vera. Vera's sentiments echo the community-first approach that has been a hallmark of the project, and if the facility's new amenities are anything to go by, visitors are in for a treat. Complete with a snack bar, picnic tables, bleachers, and restroom facilities, the space is primed for crowds of all sizes, as per the Lake Havasu City.
