The San Diego dining landscape has added a fresh fusion flair with the recent opening of Slowly Restaurant and Lounge. It was brought to Pacific Beach by the established Landini's Restaurant Group, known for local favorites Landini’s Pizzeria and Ristorante Illando.
Located at the former Salsa & Smoke/Iron Pig Alehouse site at 1520 Garnet Ave., the concept is the brainchild of Italian-born Leo Landini and his wife Christine, who aim to blend the flavors of Italy with the zest of Baja, California, to create not just a meal, but an experience, FOX 5 San Diego reported.
Executive Chef Yadira Cuevas, drawing from her Mexican heritage and culinary expertise, curates a menu peppered with innovative dishes such as tuna crudo with sushi-grade fish and a bold poke sauce, beef skewers with an apple whiskey glaze, and a carrot salad touched by a poppy seed-dill dressing, There San Diego asserts.
Not to be overshadowed, main courses boast Cuevas’ signature herb-marinated chicken, what seems to be the crowd-pleasing “sweet and slow” pork chop adorned by a guajillo pepper sauce and a citrus harissa mix that's meant to be remarkable. These choices aim to take patrons on a veritable flavor expedition.
Mirroring the food's fusion approach, Slowly's bar serves up creative craft cocktails like the Tranquil Tiki Dream, which melds white rum and tropical flavors. This indicates that the spot, which encourages reservations for its grand opening next Thursday, is keen on tantalizing taste buds across the board. The restaurant accommodates guests Sundays through Wednesdays from 4 to 11 p.m., extending to 1 a.m. on Thursdays and until 2 a.m. on weekends for those night owls craving a late-night bite or sip, as per FOX 5 San Diego.
