Residents of Las Cruces navigating the halls of city bureaucracy will need to adjust their compass once more, as an ongoing construction project at City Hall ushers utility payment cashiers into yet another temporary location. The cashiers, who spent the last two months at the Lobby's Information Desk, will now reside within the Building Permits office starting this Friday, August 23, according to the city's latest announcement.
Positioned behind the Permitting Counter in the Community Development area, inhabitants of the city should look for the “Building Registration” and “Building Permits” signs that hang proudly above the doorway, heralding their new but temporary spot. As the construction persists potentially for months to come, the city remains steadfast in ensuring that cashiers are within reach for those who seek them from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, barring federal holidays at 700 N. Main St., promises the City of Las Cruces.
For the populace who prefer to eschew the physical counters of City Hall or whose schedules conflict with cashiers' hours, a multitude of alternative bill-paying methods beckon. City Hall's kinship with the digital era is characterized by its online presence on UtilityHawk, where residents can both pay and monitor their utility bills or through PaymentUS for single installments. The 24-hour Pay-by-Phone option (calling (575) 541-2111 and pressing 4) accepts E-check, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover Cards, which are also accepted at any Las Cruces Walmart store, albeit with a $1 service fee. And for those out after the sun has clocked out, the drop-box between City Hall and Thomas Branigan Memorial Library awaits their after-hours deposits, as per the City of Las Cruces.
