Last Thursday night, a North Las Vegas Police Department patrol vehicle became an unintended target in a DUI incident. The event unfolded on southbound Interstate 15 near Cheyenne Avenue, where initially, an officer was handling a two-vehicle collision. According to News 3 Las Vegas, the officer had the vehicles move to the freeway's shoulder and was awaiting assistance from the Nevada State Police when the crash occurred.
The perpetrator was 52-year-old Yamila Perdomo-Hernandez, who, in a gray Volkswagen sedan, failed to steadily maintain her travel lane and sideswiped the stationary patrol vehicle. As fortune would have it, the officer was not seated inside the car and emerged unharmed. After exhibiting signs of impairment, Perdomo-Hernandez was arrested and charged with DUI alongside failure to maintain a lane of travel. She was booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center following the incident, as per News 3 Las Vegas.
