A three-story home in the Las Vegas valley became the scene of a tragic fire on Sunday morning, when a car ignited in its garage, leading to an unfortunate loss of six feline lives and property damage amounting to $100,000. The blaze was reported around 9:30 a.m. near Cactus Avenue and Jones Boulevard, with first responders arriving to find smoke and flames pouring from the garage, according to officials at 8NewsNow.
The Clark County Fire Department dispatched a team of 33 individuals, including firefighters and chief officers as well as investigators, who tackled the inferno with five engines, one ladder truck while two rescues and an array of support units were present, and NV Energy and Southwest Gas assisted with the utilities as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. No human injuries were reported from the incident, which saw the house sustaining smoke damage but no active fire inside the living spaces of the residence.
The home, located at 5928 Aurora Gold Ave, was the residence of the six cats whose lives were claimed by the fire. Firefighters mounted an aggressive attack and managed to control the flames, ensuring the rest of the home remained intact absent of the garage; Deputy Fire Chief Billy Samuels confirmed their strategy and efforts in a statement.
