
In the early hours of last Sunday, a pedestrian tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run accident on Paradise Road, near the intersection with Naples Drive, as confirmed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The incident, which occurred at 3:09 a.m., involved a 2010 Nissan Altima that struck the 33-year-old male as he walked southbound in the second travel lane from the left and fled the scene shortly thereafter. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the location, marking Las Vegas’s 97th traffic-related fatality for the year.
Detectives from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Fatal Detail later located the involved vehicle abandoned in a parking lot at 1131 Lulu Avenue. The arrest of the driver, identified as 33-year-old Van Deangelo Burrell, ensued on charges related to the hit and run. This latest incident adds to a concerning tally of traffic-related deaths and highlights ongoing safety issues for pedestrians in the Las Vegas area.
