The Lewisville Grand Theater is set to host the Acoustic Friday’s Songwriter Challenge this coming Friday, August 16th at 7 p.m., bringing together music aficionados and aspiring songwriters alike. Located at 100 N. Charles Street, the free event will take place in the intimate setting of the Black Box Theater. As part of a series sponsored by the Visual Art League, this challenge invites participants to draw inspiration from the theme "Sanctuary," and share their tunes of serenity and refuge amidst life's tumult.
Open to all, from experienced musicians to those taking their first step on stage, the Songwriter Challenge cherishes the raw beauty of original music. Songwriters are encouraged to perform solo, with the allowable inclusion of an accompanist playing another acoustic instrument, should they choose. Exceptions are there for keyboards and electric bass, which will not break the acoustic feel of the evening. Not as a competition but as a showcase, the only requirements are that songs are written for the challenge and make their first public appearance at the event, according to the City of Lewisville.
