The Lewisville Police Department (LPD) has been awarded the title of Outstanding Crime Prevention Agency for medium-sized agencies by the Texas Crime Prevention Association. The accolade, a testament to the department's efforts in safeguarding the community, was bestowed upon LPD last week in College Station. Captain Carter and Officer Barret represented the force, proudly accepting this significant honor on behalf of their colleagues.
According to the Lewisville Police Department, it boasts certified Crime Prevention Specialists within its ranks. These officers aren't strangers to rigorous training; they have undergone multiple weeks of intense instruction and tackled a state exam to earn their stripes, or rather, certifications from the State of Texas.
Crime prevention is not just a catchy buzzword for LPD, it's a multifaceted endeavor including public education, engagement through community events, and crime prevention surveys for businesses and residences. These surveys and initiatives are part of a broader strategy to prevent crime proactively rather than reacting to it after the fact.
