
Lowell Police, in coordination with the Massachusetts State Police, conducted a routine patrol that resulted in the arrest of a juvenile male and an adult male on August 13. According to the Lowell Police Department's official Facebook page, officials were keeping an eye on South Common Park when they noticed what seemed to be a drug deal. The observations led to a motor vehicle stop of a car reportedly involved in the transaction.
During a traffic stop, a young passenger ran from the vehicle and was caught after a brief chase. He was found with a firearm and drugs, leading to his arrest. The adult in the vehicle was also arrested on drug charges. The Lowell Police did not release details about the narcotics or specific charges.
This incident is part of a crackdown on drug-related activities, especially in South Common Park, where there have been safety concerns. The Lowell Police have not released the names of those arrested due to the juvenile's involvement and the ongoing investigation.
