A man has been arrested and charged with murder following a shooting that occurred this past Tuesday at a business on Eastex Freeway. The suspect, identified as 51-year-old Alton W. Fuller, now faces charges in the 209th State District Court, according to city officials.
The incident, which took place around 5 p.m., left 49-year-old Donnell Johnson dead. Houston Police Department (HPD) patrol officers discovered Johnson with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite prompt response from the Houston Fire Department paramedics, Johnson was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In a turn of events, the suspect returned to the scene with two firearms used during the incident. Fuller was detained by the officers present without further incident and subsequently taken to the HPD headquarters to meet with homicide detectives. It was there that Fuller's connection to the crime was established.
As part of the investigative process, Detectives D. Davis and M. Althaus of HPD's Homicide Division conducted further inquiries. After conferring with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, a murder charge was filed against Fuller. He's now been booked into the Harris County Jail.
