Early Wednesday morning, South Memphis became the focus of a Memphis Police investigation following a shooting that left one man critically injured. The Action News 5 report notes the police were called to the intersection of South Parkway and Florida Street around 6:27 a.m. after the incident occurred.

A silver truck, believed to coincide with the shooting, was seen crashed into a pole at the scene. Found with a gunshot wound, the man's identity was not immediately released as he was rushed to Regional One Hospital in a critical state. Observing the aftermath, an ABC24 photographer witnessed the pickup truck that had crashed although the driver's details remain unclear. The police investigation was complicated by powerlines that appeared down at the intersection, as pointed out by the team from FOX13.

The Memphis Police Department is staying tight-lipped as they have yet to release information about a suspect, a situation that often frustrates a community grasping for answers in the wake of violence. According to Local Memphis, an investigation into the shooting is currently underway.
