
Early this morning, tragedy unfolded in the parking lot of a south side Walmart as a man in his 30s was shot and killed following a confrontation. The San Antonio Police Department responded to the incident near the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Southeast Military Drive, discovering the victim with multiple gunshot wounds, according to reports by KSAT.
The shooter, a man in his 70s or 80s, was detained for questioning but charges have not been clarified, the police are currently investigating the situation however motives behind the altercation remain unclear, KENS 5 stated the victim had been in a truck with a woman before the fatal argument ensued.
Officers arrived at the scene before 7 a.m. after receiving reports of a wounded individual, where they found the victim was shot at least twice, in the back and the arm, and he was pronounced dead on the scene, the victim's name has yet to be released, and the woman present during the incident has been detained along with the elderly man, for further inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
SAPD officials disclosed that the suspect appeared to be either living or sleeping in his vehicle and that the deceased man was homeless; detectives have since obtained surveillance footage from Walmart to aid in unraveling the full narrative of the conflict, as KSAT reported, the investigation continues to progress with the hope of understanding why the situation escalated to such a deadly conclusion.
