A man was hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds following a shooting incident on the northwest side of Grand Rapids last Friday afternoon, reported WZZM13. The call came in just before 3 p.m. after a witness reported hearing gunshots near the intersection of Broadway Ave. NW and 7th St. NW. Officers from the Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) responded to the area but initially, did not locate a victim at the scene.
Following the incident, the injured man arrived at a local hospital around 3:30 p.m. by private vehicle, according to WWMT. The victim, an adult male, was then taken into surgery. Police have not yet apprehended any suspects, and the investigation is ongoing. Community members with any information regarding the shooting, have been encouraged to reach out to the Grand Rapids Police Department or Silent Observer.
Details regarding the circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, as the investigation is evolving. Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom, as per FOX 17 News, indicated that a car is believed to have been involved in the incident, but it was too early to confirm if this was a drive-by.
