Early Saturday morning, a violent encounter unfolded at the Edge at the Lake View apartment complex in Memphis, leaving one man hospitalized following a shooting and armed robbery. According to Action News 5, Memphis Police were called to Lake Arbor Trail just after 2:30 a.m. where they discovered a male with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was swiftly taken to the hospital, where he was listed in non-critical condition.
The Memphis Police Department has yet to apprehend any suspects, and the investigation continues in earnest. Based on footage reviewed by officers, suspects in the shooting appeared to escalate the situation rapidly. A second victim recounted to the officers that "she was asleep inside her bedroom when she heard loud popping sounds coming from outside." After the gunfire ceased, her fiancé entered the apartment and informed her that he had been shot, as reported by FOX13 Memphis.
Security camera footage showed a suspect donning all-black attire and a face mask exiting the driver’s side of the victim’s Nissan Maxima and initiating a shootout with the victim as he was coming out of his apartment. WREG also detailed that, following a brief exchange of gunfire in the parking lot, the suspect limped around to the front of the car before approaching a white SUV near a bush, subsequently fleeing the scene.
WREG noted that a second suspect, clad in all gray, opened the passenger side door of the suspect's car and discharged a firearm at the victim's apartment before the vehicle hastily departed the complex. Shell casings were found beside the victim's car and the apartment had sustained damage from the shots, hinting at the recklessness of the attack and the perpetrators' blatant disregard for the residents' security.
