Law enforcement agents in Atascosa County are currently engaged in a manhunt for Adolfo Garcia, a parolee who violated his terms and fled from authorities yesterday. According to KENS 5, Sheriff David Soward stated that Garcia was previously convicted of robbery. Texas Troopers, Rangers, and the deployment of a tracking K-9 and a DPS helicopter marked the intensification of their search efforts near the Wilson County line.
The search continued for hours but has not yet resulted in Garcia's apprehension. “Deputies will continue to be in the area actively searching,” Soward said in a statement on Facebook. There is an ongoing heavy law enforcement presence in the area of State Highway 97 and Witten Road.
Residents in the vicinity have been advised to exercise caution and to remain vigilant. The Wilson County News quotes Atascosa and Wilson county sheriff's offices instructing locals to secure their vehicles and property. Additionally, they warn that any suspicious activity or persons should be reported immediately, and under no circumstances should individuals approach the suspect.
The authorities' concern is palpable as Soward warned "not to approach Garcia if he's spotted, but to instead call 911,” as per KENS 5. The Atascosa County Sheriff's Office, with the aid of surrounding law enforcement agencies, remains committed to capturing Garcia and ensuring public safety in the affected areas. Residents are reminded that the suspect remained at large as of Thursday night and should report any potential sightings or unusual activities directly to law enforcement.
