The Mankato Department of Public Safety is calling for public input regarding an incident that occurred earlier this week between a bicyclist and a vehicle. The accident took place on Monday, July 29, around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Victory Drive and Fair Street. As detailed in a statement released by city officials, the incident saw the bicyclist collide with the side of a black Dodge truck.
Officials are keen to identify and speak with the driver of the truck, described as an older white male with gray/white hair and a beard. After the incident, the driver responded by loading the damaged bicycle onto his truck bed and transported the injured cyclist to the hospital for assessment of what appeared to be minor injuries. The driver, having left the victim at the hospital, then departed the scene before providing identification, leaving authorities without a key witness to the events.
Witnesses or anyone in possession of information about the accident or driver are encouraged to come forward. The Mankato Department of Public Safety has provided a contact number, (507) 387-8725, urging potential informants to aid in their effort to piece together the circumstances leading up to the unusual transportation of the bicyclist post-collision.
