Memphis Firefighters Battle Overnight Inferno at Midtown Apartment Complex

Flames and chaos erupted in the early hours of Wednesday morning as a fire raged through a Midtown apartment complex in Memphis. According to WREG, the Memphis Fire Department has been on the scene for hours, desperately working to quell the inferno at the Midtown Rooms on North Montgomery Street. The first call about the fire was received just before the unyielding hands of the clock struck 3 a.m.

The response required a concerted effort by first responders who, as mentioned by FOX13, fought to quickly control the traffic surrounding North Montgomery near Jefferson Avenue, an effort facilitated by Memphis Police for maintaining the necessary clearances for emergency vehicles and personnel to safely maneuver.

The fire's intensity was evident from the heavy smoke and ominous flames that an ABC24 photographer captured upon arrival around 4 a.m., with the smoke visibly encroaching on the lanes of Interstate 240 and seeping into the thoroughfares around Poplar Avenue.
