A chaotic car chase in Memphis ended with a man facing a litany of charges. Travis Brown, 40, was arrested after a series of collisions and an attempted evasion of Tennessee State Troopers. According to Action News 5, the Troopers were patrolling a parking lot on Lamar Avenue when they identified a blue vehicle as potentially stolen from Mississippi. The suspect, Travis Brown, rammed into a patrol car and other vehicles in an attempt to flee from law enforcement.
After the initial crash, the chase led law enforcement south on Lamar Avenue, during which Brown is accused of running several red lights and hitting multiple vehicles. Eventually, the pursuit came to a head near the intersection of Highway 385 and Ridgeway Road, where Brown collided with another patrol car. FOX13 Memphis reports that Brown continued to resist as troopers attempted to arrest him, necessitating additional backup.
Further investigation by the troopers revealed that Brown and his female passenger, identified as Zyicreiya Thomas, had what appeared to be marijuana and a stolen firearm. As detailed by WREG, Brown has been charged with several offenses, including two counts of aggravated assault, theft of a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
