An incident involving a Memphis Police officer and a stolen vehicle unfolded Wednesday night, leading to the detention of at least one suspect. According to WREG, a driver in a stolen vehicle reportedly struck the officer on the 1100 block of Kyle Street, near South Parkway. The driver then fled the scene.
The pursuit ended at Crump Boulevard and Kentucky Street, south of Downtown Memphis, where the suspect was subsequently detained. In a twist of events, the chase initially began as a response to a domestic incident. Meanwhile, the officer who has yet to be publically identified, was promptly taken to Regional One Hospital; he is expected to thankfully make a full recovery from his non-critical injuries, Action News 5 reports.
In addition to the detained driver, FOX13 Memphis confirmed that two people altogether were detained in connection with the crash. This detail suggests there may have been more individuals involved than initially reported. The situation commenced when police responded to a suspicious person report on the 200 block of North Cleveland Street, only then to evolve into a confrontation with far-reaching consequences, which we still await to fully understand.
