The Metropolitan Police Department has successfully apprehended a suspect linked to a trio of carjackings that took place in Northeast D.C. over two weeks. The violent spree began with an armed carjacking incident on June 19, around 2:51 p.m., in which two individuals confronted the victim with firearms on the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue. According to the Washington Metropolitan Police Department report, the perpetrators hijacked the victim's car and then quickly disappeared from the area.

The sequence of crimes continued on June 21, at approximately 9:04 p.m. when a suspect startled a resident who was simply trying to refuel their car on the 4400 block of Benning Road. The bandit managed to slip into the driver's seat and hastily drove off. On July 1, right around 8:00 p.m., another motorist found themselves in a similar predicament; while pumping gas in the 4100 block of Hunt Place, the suspect made their move and the victim's vehicle was stolen.

The diligent efforts of the detectives assigned to these cases culminated on August 14, when an 18-year-old male from Northeast D.C. was taken into custody for connection to these audacious acts of thievery. It was noted that when these felonies were committed, the suspect was under the legal adult age, and thus categorized as a juvenile offender.

Carjackings are rising in the District, causing concern among residents. Authorities increased patrols and quick responses, but locals are urged to stay alert and report suspicious activity.
