Authorities in the nation's capital are seeking the public's help to quickly identify and locate the individual responsible for a reported sexual assault in Northwest Washington. The Metropolitan Police Department released a statement detailing the incident that occurred in the early hours of August 11.
The report, released by the MPD, indicates that at approximately 12:40 a.m. last week, a woman was assaulted while she was making her way home. The attack took place on the 2700 block of 29th Street NW, a residential area. According to the victim’s account, the suspect overpowered her, tackled her to the ground, and then engaged in unwanted sexual contact before fleeing the scene.
The suspect, as described by the MPD, is a black male, purportedly in his 20s or 30s, approximately 5'7" in height with a heavy build, weighing around 200 lbs. At the time of the assault, he was reported to be wearing dark clothing and a hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone who has information pertaining to this case, or who may have seen anything suspicious during the time of the assault, is urged to contact the police. The MPD has provided the number for their Sexual Assault Unit and affirmed that any assistance from the public could be crucial in the swift resolution of this case.
