A Michigan woman experienced a harrowing ordeal when she was reportedly tied up and tortured by her boyfriend before making a desperate escape to a neighbor's help, as officials from the Albion Department of Public Safety stated. This incident occurred in Albion, a town some 95 miles west of Detroit.
The victim, whose identity was withheld by the police, underwent hours of abuse beginning on the night of August 3 and continuing until the following afternoon. In a statement obtained by The Kansas City Star, police described finding the woman severely beaten with "bruising and lacerations throughout most of her body and face" upon their arrival. The report indicated that she was transported to the hospital for serious injuries, including potential broken bones.
According to the Albion Department of Public Safety's Facebook post, the woman was able to escape to a neighbor's house, where the neighbor, witnessing the attack, intervened — armed with a gun, he confronted the assailant. "he pulled his gun at him and told him to let her go, and the suspect then fled out of the area," the ADPS detailed before the neighbor contacted the authorities for assistance.
The ADPS also disclosed the discovery of two children, ages 9 and 11, found in the basement of the residence. They were safely turned over to relatives at the scene.
The search for the suspect came to an end the following day after a tip led officers to the same block where the incident happened. "Officers responded to the area and located the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident," as noted by the department's Facebook announcement. As of now, no charges have been listed, and the investigation continues.
