A routine traffic stop on Montague Expressway near S. Main Street turned into a significant weapons bust early Tuesday morning. Milpitas Police Department disclosed that a vehicle was pulled over for a traffic violation, which escalated as the history of the occupants came to light.
The driver, a 51-year-old man from Suisun City, carried a minor warrant, which led to his arrest. Further scrutiny revealed that one of the passengers, aged 33 and hailing from Fairfield, was on probation for firearm possession as a felon, while another, a 35-year-old San Francisco resident, was on probation for assault with a deadly weapon and grand theft. The latter individual also had a felony warrant for probation violation. According to the Milpitas Police Department, the discovery of a rifle, multiple magazines, ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and pepper spray inside the car prompted the arrests.
The driver was cited and released for his warrants, but the situation was grimmer for the passengers. The 35-year-old male was booked into jail for a variety of weapons-related charges and his warrant. Concurrently, the 33-year-old was booked for being a felon in possession of pepper spray and for possession of drug paraphernalia.
