A 15-year-old girl was the victim of a fatal shooting in Minneapolis, an incident currently under police investigation. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara relayed the details of the response to the tragedy in a residence on the 3400 block of Logan Av N. According to the Minneapolis Police Department, it was at 1:50 p.m. when officers from the 4th Precinct arrived at the scene, finding the young girl with a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Despite the immediacy of medical attention provided by the officers and subsequent transport to North Memorial Health, sadly the teenager succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, as detailed by the Minneapolis Police Department. Residents within the home at the time of the officers' arrival include two adults and two teenagers. The investigators have their work cut out for them as they strive to piece together the sequence of events that led to this fatal shooting.
"I am deeply concerned by the shooting death of a 15-year-old girl," Chief O'Hara stated. These are the preliminary comments addressing the incident as they question whether this was "a terrible accident highlighting the need for the proper care and storage of guns, or this is somehow connected to the growing violence among teenagers."
As per the update, no arrests have been made thus far, while the Hennepin County Medical Examiner is tasked with releasing official identification of the deceased, and the determination of death’s cause and manner.
