The body of a woman found in the Dominguez Channel in Carson has been determined to be that of a missing 60-year-old grandmother, authorities confirmed. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported that the deceased, Prisciliana Douglas, was originally found on July 28 near the 500 block of E. Carson Plaza Drive, with obvious signs of trauma. According to CBS News Los Angeles, the discovery came after Douglas had been reported missing in late July.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet disclosed the cause of death and has listed it as deferred while additional tests are conducted. Before the grim find, the Los Angeles Police Department had made a plea to the public, asking to actively help in locating Douglas, last seen on July 23 in the vicinity of 39th Street and Walton Avenue in the Exposition Park area. In an effort by the police to drum up leads, the disappearance notice highlighted that "Mrs. Douglas is of sound mind and her family and friends are deeply concerned for her safety and well-being," as obtained by FOX LA.
